Among the many festivals in India, Diwali stands out as one of the most popular and eagerly awaited festivals. It is celebrated throughout the country with great pomp and show. The festival enlightens the triumph of good over evil and is celebrated with much grandeur.

This five-day-long festival starts with Dhanteras, followed by Narak Chaturdashi, Diwali or Lakshmi Puja, Govardhan Puja and Bhai Dooj. The lights twinkle across every road and window, displaying Diwali’s glory to the rest of the world. And through lanterns, earthen lamps, and fairy lights, homes eliminate darkness.

This day is mostly celebrated in northern India as the day Lord Rama, his wife Sita, brother Lakshman, and Hanuman returned to Ayodhya after slaying Ravana. People light clay pots called diyas, decorate their homes with lights, and pray for a healthy & prosperous year. South Indians, on the other hand, commemorate the festival as the day Lord Krishna destroyed the demon Narakasura
