Every year on October 2nd, the world celebrates the incredible life and legacy of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (Mahatma Gandhi), also referred to as the ‘Father of India’. The day, which is also his birth anniversary (celebrated as Gandhi Jayanti) is a chance to honour the man who inspired generations and showed by example how one person can change the whole world through harmony.
Born on October 2, 1869, Mahatma Gandhi was one of the key figures that led the India independence struggle against the British. He was instrumental in challenging the British-imposed salt tax with the Dandi Salt March in 1930. He preached the power of peace and advocated the co-existence of all faiths under one society. He became a beloved stalwart and his ideas and ideals have resonated and endured. This year officially marks his 150th birth anniversary and we at Team CollPoll celebrate one of the greatest humanitarians the world has seen.
